5 die as boats topple during idol immersion in PQR

PQR, October 26: Five people died during the immersion of Goddess Durga idols in the river Ganga at XY in PQR district on Monday.

Six people went missing from two boats as the boats were supposed to move apart to facilitate the immersion. The six missing people were trapped below the structure of the idol.

Soon, the police and rescuers started a search operation and four bodies were traced. Later, another body was fished out. The police are still looking for one remaining body. The tragedy in the area created gloom on Dussehra. The locals had gone to attend the immersion ceremony hosted in the house of a local MP.

The five bodies were sent for autopsy.
